Box styles

• Rigid gift box: Thick wrapped board gives a solid, premium box that customers tend to keep.
• Window tuck box: A window shows the product and lets it sell itself on the counter or shelf.
• Gable box: Two top panels fold up into a built-in carry handle, so no separate bag is needed.

Materials and board

We match the board to the weight of the food and how far it travels. The main thing to plan for with Christmas food boxes is heavy glass, uneven weight and knocks during courier delivery.

• Rigid greyboard: Thick board, usually 1.5 to 2.5 mm, wrapped in printed paper. It is used for premium gift boxes that customers keep and reuse long after the food is gone.
• E-flute corrugated board: A thin corrugated board around 1.5 mm thick that adds crush strength and a little insulation while still printing cleanly. It is the standard for pizza boxes, mailers and heavier food orders.
• Kraft paperboard: Unbleached kraft has a natural brown finish that suits rustic, organic and eco-minded brands. It prints best with bold one- or two-colour artwork, because the brown base shifts lighter colours.

Food safety

Pack perishables last and use inserts so heavy jars can't move onto delicate items.

Printing and finishes

Sustainable options

Kraft and recycled-content board, film-free windows and water-based coatings all help your Christmas food boxes recycle more easily. We can add the Australasian Recycling Label to your artwork, and certified compostable options are available for some styles.
